I took a job working for the queen from an ad I found in a magazine I was coming apart at the seam I was under the gun 8 days a week I took a job working for the queen on her fancy flying space machine It sucked me in like a tractor beam Back in time to New Orleans I took a job working for the queen I'm seeing things I thought I'd never see high up in her apple tree feeding all the birds bumblebees I took a job working for the queen on a train in the woods north of Abilene you could smell the smoke and kerosene all aboard the 219 I took a job working for the queen working in the Land of Make Believe working steal and concrete Laying yellow bricks down in the street I took a job working for the queen Now things ain't always what they seem I feel like I'm trapped inside a dream in the land of the brave and free I took a job working for the queen but she swept me off my feet She took me for a ride in her limousine we got lost Between the sheets I took a job working for the queen 300 and 65 days a week I fell for her eyes of green now I love her and she loves me I took a job working for the queen in a coat I borrowed from James Dean she stabbed me in the face with a nectarine Still got a bit of her stuck in my teeth I took a job working for the queen

Here's to the ones who have left too soon from Albuquerque to Saskatoon From tucumcari to Kalamazoo me and Mr Osborne barking at the moon Mr Guthrie arrived not a moment too soon Mr Edison showed up in a big balloon Jackie Gleason come and sing us a tune me and Mr Osborne barking at the Moon The good policeman at high noon said there's nothing to see here let's all move along mother Mary and her sister June me and Mr Osborne barking at the Moon Slowly but surely we're all becoming immune to that feeling inside us that tells us what we should do we're all living in a big cartoon Me and Mr Osborne barking at the moon now I'm feeling paranoid Snow blind into the void Crazy, like a loon me and Mr Osborne barking at the Moon Paul said to John John said to George I'd travel far across the universe I'm heading back to Where the Buffalo roam me and Mr Osborne barking at the Moon me and Mr Osborne barking at the Moon

I thought about leaving the world for a while and hanging my hat on the Stars I thought about saddling up next to you I thought about boarding a train And leaving the great state of Maine riding it clear across the country I think of where I'd be without you in the seat next to me as you disappeared into the landscape I think of all the ones In white gowns and silk gloves broken wings and songs we sing out of tune The wild horses and sweet chariots all the guardsmen with their fixed bayonets All of the soldiers and the firing squads All of the mornings in the soft silver Air all of the magic everywhere all of it happening right here and now all of the mileage we travel apart all of the fibers that make up the heart The who's the what's the why's and hows I remember thinking when is all of this going to end I remember getting lost inside of you I keep listening to the wolves sing your name from the top of the hill I just keep waiting for a new day to break Ali Baba and the 40 thieves can't take anything away from me it's all a shot in the dark and that's all that we got

You could open up my soul and tell me what it's worth is it worth more than gold Or all the money in the world will I ever have enough Or always hold an empty cup could we ever be Satisfied I'm an eagle I'm a hawk Swooping in to tear you apart I'm a tiger I'm a shark I'm a lion with a dragon heart I could fill a bag if I only had just a little of the love that we once made surely you could be happy as can be above and beyond The mountains of the Moon I'm an eagle I'm a hawk swooping in to tear you apart I'm a tiger I'm a shark I'm a lion with a dragon heart Goliath told me best tread lightly take the time To smell the roses got to take the time to smell the roses I'm an eagle I'm a hawk Swooping in to tear you apart I'm a tiger I'm a shark I'm a lion with a Thunderheart

Imagine You and I in the darkness with a knife Beneath the waves Taking in the sights on a train Just along for the ride in the future headed back in time up in the trees with the meadowlark In the junkyard with the junkyard dog In the city locked up in the zoo spending time in someone else's shoes imagine You and I high up in a nuclear sky magnetized By what's inside on a plane Just along for the ride In the future Headed back in time you and I could be king and queen in a future Galaxy Just you and me and the meadowlark Just you and me And the junkyard dog just you and me and the meadowlark Just you and me and the junkyard dog just you and me

Maybe we can get away maybe so maybe not Maybe visit LA in an old pickup truck maybe run out in the rain jump in the puddles like we're five again Maybe we can paint the night The color of the morning on a winter's day Maybe Miami, in the middle of the night Maybe we can take a walk Through morning side park maybe walk around the world with Art Garfunkel All the dragons in the jungle and the monsters in the dark I'll dream of you Miami until I'm back there in your arms Maybe Miami, in the middle of the night Maybe Miami, in the middle of the night In this space between I see you do you see me dancing on the sand With a whole world in your hands I dream of the thunder on those long cold winter nights I'll dream of you Miami And all your blinding neon lights Maybe Miami, in the middle of the night Maybe Miami, in the middle of the night Maybe Miami, in the middle of the night Maybe Miami

Between a wolf and the Moon A silver balloon the color of love in winter A tornado in hand Of the TV man Waving a white flag in a black hole alone in the dark with a beat up heart Still miles apart and growing Between a wolf and the Moon someday soon the funeral bell will ring for you Between a wolf and the Moon the wild roses bloom The twisted pine and the maple From on top of the hill Time stands still fixing to die on a thundercloud Between a wolf and the Moon in the back bedroom of the little red house around the corner Between a wolf and the Moon the hunt resumes love assumes and it just plays dead love assumes and it just plays dead Between a wolf and the Moon

about

Winters in the great north woods can be brutal. They are also glorious. There is great beauty in the solitude. There is great magic in the silence. There is creation in the morning. There is mystery in the night. There is redemption in the struggle and there is faith in the light. There is life inside the fire. There is love painted on the moon and there is hope in the heart of the wolf.

Between a Wolf and the Moon

Was written and recorded by Travis Cyr at the Spruce & Pines in January, 2022. Featuring Courtney Martin on vocals.

The songs were mastered by head chef Frank Hopkins.

Cover painting "Wolf Moon" by Dionne Stratton. Used by permission. You can check out her work here... serenityimages.studio

"Between a Wolf and the Moon" was a result of a challenge to write and record an album in a month. All the material was composed and recorded between January 1-31. Those were the constraints I decided to work within. Courtney visited and added her vocals on a chilly February morning. We hope you enjoy. As always, these farm to table, spacey, folk songs are best consumed with headphones.

Thank you to everyone who supports my music. 🙏🏻♥️
